Whether you are a ferro equinologist enthusiast or a potential rail user, welcome to the Georgia Railroad Association website. The membership of the Association is comprised of large railroads as well as short line railroads. In addition, railroad vendors are associate members.
The Association advocates for freight railroads at the local, state and national level. This representation portrays the interest of the freight rail industry in conjunction with the transportation infrastructure critical to the nation and economy. The current economic and environmental conditions of today demand that viable transportation alternatives be assessed and freight rail is uniquely positioned to address these needs on both fronts.
With the expanding population, freight rail is positioned to effectively address traffic congestion by moving goods off the highway and freeing up roadways. Since railroads maintain their rights of way, the degradation of the highway infrastructure is significantly impacted and in turn so is the tax burden on the taxpayer.
