The Georgia Railroad Association is a voluntary organization dedicated to delivering our industry message to public officials, participating in public debate of public policy issues affecting our industry and to providing information to state and public officials.

An Overview

GRA supports safe transportation, economic development and private enterprises.

GRA provides a forum for Georgia railroads to share information and to promote knowledge and understanding of the role of railroads in the safe, efficient and economic freight transportation of goods.

Georgia railroads operate under authority of a certificate of convenience and necessity issued by the U.S. Surface Transportation Board. Railroads serve a public purpose - the safe transportation of goods in interstate commerce.

Georgia members are an active participant in Georgia Operation Lifesaver, a program devoted to ensuring public safety around railroad property.

It is the GRA's hope that this website will serve as a tool for citizens and officials with an interest in our industry.

Benefits of Membership

The Georgia Railroad Association, Inc. is a member-driven association with 14 railroad members and over 30 associate members. GRA is the leading advocate for freight rail. We provide our members with a daily presence in the Capitol during Georgia's legislative session.

Inform members of pending legislation, court cases, regulations and other matters of interest.

Educate members and public officials on freight rail issues.

Promote economic development and freight rail service.

Provide an interface between railroads, railroad customers, legislators, public officials, the general public and railway supporters.
